National Caregivers Month

For the People Who Show Up
Behind every cancer diagnosis are people who show up in countless ways. The rides to appointments. The late-night conversations. The little things that make difficult days easier. And sometimes, the laughter that gets everyone through.
This November, PORTCAST with Ron Bennington is joining the American Cancer Society to celebrate caregivers everywhere — starting with someone very close to home, Gail Bennington.

Caregivers are your doctors, your nurses, and the dedicated staff at hospitals and medical offices. We appreciate every single one of them. But November is about celebrating a different kind of caregiver: the people in our everyday lives.
Your mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, daughters and sons. Your grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
The people who sit beside you during chemo. Who watch your kids while you go to doctor's appointments. Who bring you a meal, invite you to a movie, or just show up when you need them.
The ones who send a text, make a phone call, or leave a heart on your Instagram post. The people who remind you, in big ways and small, that you're not going through this alone.
Caregiving doesn't always look like caregiving. Sometimes it looks like love, friendship, laughter, or simply being there.
So throughout November, and all year long, remember to say thank you. Even though they don't expect it. Even though they'd do it all again without being asked.
Because these are the people who show up for us.
And they're the best of us.
